— Promises more impactful interventions across board

Hon. Dr. Abiola Makinde, the Ranking Member representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Ondo East United FC for their outstanding victory at the Dr. Abiola Makinde Senatorial Football Competition, held at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.


In a message shared on his official Facebook page, the senatorial aspirant praised the determination and performance of Ondo East United FC, who defeated their counterparts from Ifedore Local Government Area in the much-anticipated final match.

> “Yesterday, the final match of the inaugural Hon. Dr. Abiola Makinde Senatorial Football Competition was held, and Ondo East United FC emerged victorious as champions of the Central region. They defeated their Ifedore counterparts in the thrilling encounter.”



Hon. Makinde commended the organizers of the competition, particularly Makinz Football Academy and its CEO, Coach Akinboni Benson Osebaba, for their professionalism and dedication in putting together a successful tournament.

> “I express my gratitude to the organizers, Makinz Football Academy, their CEO, Coach Akinboni Benson Osebaba, and the entire management team for their seamless execution of this event. I also extend appreciation to the match officials, sports administrators, stadium staff, and everyone who contributed to the smooth running of the competition.”



The lawmaker reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to youth development through sports, entertainment, skill acquisition, and other initiatives that nurture creativity and reduce restiveness.

> “I will continue to identify and support programs, ideas, and initiatives that enhance the skills and passion of our youth. Whether in sports, entertainment, or vocational development, I am committed to creating opportunities for them to thrive.”



The maiden edition of the tournament brought together six teams from across the Ondo Central Senatorial District, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and potentials.

Winners were rewarded with cash prizes:

₦1,000,000 for the champions (Ondo East United FC)

₦500,000 for the first runner-up

₦250,000 for the second runner-up


This initiative further demonstrates Hon. Makinde’s passion for youth empowerment and his resolve to continue investing in programs that positively impact the lives of young people in Ondo State.
