A Concerned Resident Raises Alarm Over Delay in Issuance of Driver’s Licenses in Ondo State
Ondo State, Nigeria – Saturday, 30th August, 2025
A concerned resident of Ondo State has raised serious alarm over the prolonged delay in the issuance of Nigerian Driver’s Licenses across the state.
Since April 2025, many applicants who have duly applied, completed all official procedures, and paid the required fees have not received their licenses. According to information from the FRSC Driver’s License Office, Barracks Road, Ondo, the delay is due to “network failure” on the licensing portal affecting Ondo West and the state at large.
This situation has caused widespread hardship:
Applicants remain at risk of harassment by law enforcement officers who may not indefinitely recognize temporary slips.
Many residents whose livelihoods depend on driving face unnecessary restrictions.
Public trust in government institutions is weakened when citizens fulfill their obligations but are denied timely service.
This is no longer an isolated issue but a statewide public concern.
We therefore call on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Ondo State Driver’s License Office, and the Ondo State Government to urgently address the problem and provide a lasting solution to the processing delays.
In addition, we plead to our caring governor, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to kindly intervene and help us out in resolving this challenge so that the people of Ondo State can have access to their driver’s licenses without further delay.
